Watch Dr. Judith Mackall’s Health Talks

Dr. Judith Mackall, a native Clevelander, received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. She attended medical school at Wright State University and returned to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center to complete her residency in Internal Medicine and subspecialty fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. In 1992, she completed subspecialty training in cardiac devices at the University of Toronto. She joined the faculty of University Hospitals and the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1993.

An Associate Professor at the School of Medicine, Dr. Mackall is also the Medical Director for the Cardiac Device Clinic, Program Director for the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship, and Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. She is actively involved in clinical trials of novel device and drug therapies for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders and heart failure. She is also investigating the underlying mechanisms of sudden death in inherited arrhythmia syndromes.

Dr. Mackall has been an active board member and past president of the American Heart Association Great Rivers Affiliate, championing CPR as a graduation requirement for Ohio high school students and lobbying for increased funding for cardiovascular research.
