Muthulekha Swamydas, PhD
Muthulekha Swamydas obtained her MBBS from Tirunelveli Medical College in India and completed her PhD in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Wayne State University and postdoctoral training at University of North Carolina. She then worked as a Biologist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where she studied the role of chemokine receptors in immune responses to systemic fungal infections. Her studies at University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine are focused on transcriptomic analysis and immune profiling of multiple myeloma tumor cells as well as components of the tumor microenvironment pre- and post-treatment. The goals of her projects are to uncover mechanisms of drug resistance, to identify novel, actionable therapeutic targets and to identify immune biomarkers that predict response to treatment.
