Brain Circuitry Analysis in Bipolar Disorder

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to learn more about how the brain functions in patients with Bipolar Disorder (BD) compared to matched controls. The data collected from this study will then be used to determine if Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) could possibly be useful in the treatment of BD.

This is an observational study to determine if DBS could be a possible treatment. We hope to one day be able to offer DBS as a standard form of treatment.

Eligibility

To participate in this study you must be at least 18 years old. You may be eligible if you 1) suffer from Bipolar Disorder, whether or not you are doing well on your current treatment or 2) you have no current or past neurological or psychiatric diagnoses.

Additional criteria will be assessed by a study doctor to determine your eligibility.
