Experts from University Hospitals Sports Medicine Concussion Management Program believe that patient education is key to identifying and safely managing concussions at all levels. Our team consistently provides regular, multidisciplinary concussion education in Cleveland, across Northeast Ohio, nationally and internationally. All of our primary care sports medicine physicians are fellowship-trained in sports medicine, with added qualification certificates in the sub-subspecialty of care of athletes. Our concussion specialists have provided education on the most sophisticated concussion management techniques and have been very involved in the legislative efforts in Ohio to ensure proper management of concussion in Ohio youth.

Best Practices in Concussion Management
Members of the Concussion Management Program have been selected by local and national organizations to assist in establishing Ohio’s concussion law. They provide expert testimony to the Ohio Department of Health and Ohio legislative bodies regarding the best practices in managing concussion in our youth and adolescent athletes. We also recognize that the most important people for identifying concussion in the early stages are the people that see the athletes every day. As such, experts from the Concussion Management Program regularly meet with athletes, parents, coaches, educators and sports organizations in order to provide needed education about this complex injury.
