David Satcher Clerkship Supplemental Application

We are proud to host minority and underrepresented students through our David Satcher Clerkship. The David Satcher Clerkship allows students to do electives at our hospital, offers mentorship, exposure to career opportunities available in academic medical centers, and a significant stipend to cover the elective costs.

Before completing this application, please thoroughly read the details about and requirements of the David Satcher Clerkship. You MUST apply via the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) application before you can complete this application.

To be eligible to apply for David Satcher Clerkship you must:

  • Identify as a underrepresented or minority medical student (US citizens only)
  • Be a full-time fourth-year MD or DO student in good standing at an accredited US Medical School
  • Have completed your core clerkships prior to the start of your rotation
  • Have a completed USMLE Step 1 prior to the stat of your rotation

To complete this application, you will need:

  1. To have already completed the VSLO application
    1. You will also need your AAMC ID, preferred clerkship names, preferred clerkship months from the VSLO application
  2. Three prepared statements of interest: (in 2000 characters or less)
    1. What are your career goals?
    2. Why are you interested in the David Satcher Clerkship?
    3. Why do want to come to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center?
