Comprehensive Training & Education
The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program offers an extensive and comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery. Residents receive broad clinical and surgical training through formal rotations in podiatric medicine and surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, internal medicine, orthopedic trauma surgery, radiology, infectious disease, behavioral medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, general surgery, as well as dedicated podiatric clinic and office experience.
In addition to hands-on clinical training, residents participate in a robust academic program designed to strengthen their knowledge and clinical decision-making skills. Education includes weekly academic sessions, monthly journal clubs, case presentations, and hands-on cadaver laboratory experiences. This combination of clinical exposure, surgical training, and academic education provides residents with a well-rounded foundation for a successful career in podiatric medicine and surgery.
Curriculum
Year One - Building a Strong Clinical Foundation
The first year of residency is designed to provide a broad clinical foundation and prepare residents for advanced surgical training. Residents rotate through a variety of medical and surgical specialties, gaining valuable experience in the evaluation and management of complex patients.

Years Two and Three - Advanced Surgical Training
During the second and third years, residents transition into an intensive, hands-on surgical experience with a strong emphasis on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Residents develop advanced surgical skills while managing a broad range of complex lower-extremity conditions. Training also includes significant exposure to endovascular limb salvage, orthopedic trauma, and infectious disease surgical procedures, providing residents with comprehensive experience in both elective and complex limb-salvage care.
Academics
Weekly academic sessions provide residents with a diverse and engaging educational experience designed to complement their clinical and surgical training. Sessions may include hands-on cadaver labs, podiatric skills workshops, journal clubs, board review sessions, and radiology rounds. This comprehensive academic curriculum reinforces clinical knowledge, develops surgical skills, and helps residents prepare for board certification and future practice.
Conferences & Professional Development
Throughout residency, residents have opportunities to attend a variety of educational and professional conferences, including the ACFAS Conference. These experiences allow residents to expand their knowledge, learn from leaders in the field, explore the latest advances in podiatric medicine and surgery, and engage with the broader podiatric community.
