Visitor Services

We believe in patient- and family-centered care and fully understand that patients benefit from family and friends visiting them in the hospital. Please review the system-wide policies before visiting any UH facility.

All UH medical centers are following the same visitor policies as outlined here.

Dining

Sam’s Café

Sam's Café, conveniently located right off of Samaritan Hospital's Main Lobby, entices visitors with an array of delicious options, from our inviting, hot entrees to our Chef Specials of the day. Menu selections are posted daily on our hotline, which is 419-289-0491, ext. 3417.

Vending machines

Vending machines are located in the Emergency Department, Birthing and Women’s Unit and Sam’s Café.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center is a fundraising entity for the hospital. Proceeds generated through sales in the Gift Shop benefit patients, families and the community. Funds are used to purchase new equipment for the hospital, as well as to support programs and projects.

The Gift Shop offers a wide range of merchandise including home décor, artificial floral arrangements and wreaths, seasonal décor, candles, lotions, purses, clothing and jewelry.

Chapel/Chaplain

The chapel is on the second floor at UH Samaritan Medical Center and is open to visitors of all faiths. Chaplain services can also be accessed through a nurse.

Reading Materials

The Ashland Times-Gazette newspaper is available from vending machines near the Main Entrance. Books and magazines are available for purchase in the Gift Shop.

Phone Use/Laptops

Cellular phones are permitted throughout the facility, but please turn the ringer to the lowest setting.

Local calls may be made from the room at any time by dialing 9 and then the numbers.

Dial 0 for operator assistance in making a long-distance call.

Wireless internet access is available throughout the hospital.

Lost and Found

Items found at the hospital are kept in the Security Office, located in the Emergency Department lobby on the east side of the building. Security can be reached at 419-289-0491, ext. 2427.

Tobacco-Free Policy

Smoking and the use of tobacco products are prohibited at UH Samaritan Medical Center.
