About

Iman Rashid, MD, PhD, FRACP, is an expert general cardiologist and advanced cardiovascular imaging specialist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, serving as Director of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services, Co-Director of the Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship Program and member of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Board. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Rashid earned his medical degree and PhD from the University of Sydney Medical School (Australia). His postdoctoral training included an internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship and cardiac MRI fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney, Australia). He received several recognitions for his excellence in academics and research, including two Australian Atherosclerosis Society Young Investigator Awards. He has earned the highest accreditation by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rashid is an avid researcher. He has served in key roles as principal or co-principal investigator on studies evaluating the use of advanced cardiovascular imaging techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of common and complex heart conditions. He holds two United States Patents for his work in this field.

Dr. Rashid has further contributed to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine with over 100 authored publications and medical conference presentations. Topics cover the optimization of cardiovascular imaging modalities for patients with congenital heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart valve disease, heart failure and coronary artery disease, as well as the use of coronary artery calcium scoring for heart disease prevention and risk stratification. He also serves as peer reviewer for multiple medical journals such as Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, Journal of the American Heart Association, Circulation, European Heart Journal: Cardiovascular Imaging and Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.

Dr. Rashid is recognized as a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP). He is also a proud member of professional organizations including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.
