Virtual care updates and resources for the New Year
UH Clinical Update | January 2021
2020 has brought many changes to our UH community and our patients. One of the most visible and permanent effects is the rapid introduction and socialization of virtual visits as one of the many ways we connect with and care for our patients. Monthly virtual visits have averaged approximately 30,000 per month for the last several months, down from a peak of 90,000 visits in April. Many departments are utilizing virtual care as their primary medium for patient care. For example, the Department of Psychiatry is over 93% virtual.
As we move into 2021, we thank you for your continued patience and engagement as we anticipate more investment in this model of care delivery. The Digital Health Team has created many resources to assist our providers. You can access the Telehealth DWP to access regular updates on these resources. (Please note, a UH network connection is required to access these online resources.)
- Reference materials and updates on major payer telehealth coverage end dates
- Recent advocacy successes (see list) by our legal and government relations teams
- Compliance updates to ensure proper documentation and accurate coding for services rendered during any virtual visit.
As you navigate these resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Telehealth Medical Directors, Dr. Brian D’Anza and Dr. Brian Zack, should you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued partnership to improve the health and the lives of our patients.
