About
Anupam Verma, MD, is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Dr. Verma also serves as a Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and UH Rainbow. In addition, she is Director of Hematologic Malignancies at UH Rainbow. Dr. Verma’s areas of expertise include children and young adult acute leukemias, high-risk acute leukemias and relapsed acute leukemias; children with Down syndrome and leukemias; clinical trials for acute leukemias; CAR T-cell therapy; and medical education and training.
Dr. Verma received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Doctor of Medicine in Pediatrics from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India. She then attended All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, where she was Senior Resident in Hematology Oncology.
Motivated by a strong interest in translational and clinical research in pediatric hematology and oncology, she moved to the U.S. and completed a second pediatric residency in New York and a fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology at the University of Utah, where she continued as faculty member and was promoted to Associate Professor. She has been Associate Research Physician in the Pediatric Oncology Branch at the National Institutes of Health and later at George Washington University.
At UH Rainbow, Dr. Verma’s clinical research interest is in acute leukemias, and she is actively involved in both the Lymphoid and Myeloid Disease Committees, as well as the Diversity and Equity committee of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She also participated in the development and conduction of various clinical trials at COG and is co-chair of the upfront trial in Myeloid Leukemia of Down syndrome. In addition, she is a mentor for Young Investigators at COG. Dr. Verma regularly presents at national and international conferences and has multiple peer-reviewed publications.
In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr. Verma is the Program Director of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship.
