About
Pallavi Sharma, MD, is a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician at University Hospitals. She serves as an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where she is also the quality chair of the Resuscitation Committee. In addition, Dr. Sharma is the ICU director at UH Parma Medical Center. She is board-certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease, with clinical interests in interstitial lung disease and occupational and environmental lung disease. Her critical care focus includes quality improvement, patient safety and medical education.
Dr. Sharma earned her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Life Sciences from Kent State University and her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) through its combined six-year BS/MD program. She completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at UH Cleveland Medical Center.
Throughout her career, Dr. Sharma has demonstrated a strong commitment to clinical excellence, quality improvement, medical education and patient safety. She is active in clinical research and has led and participated in studies advancing the fields of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at regional and national conferences.
Dr. Sharma is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians. She is currently expanding her pulmonary practice in interstitial lung diseases, with a research focus on occupational and environmental pulmonary medicine.
Passionate about serving underserved populations, Dr. Sharma has dedicated significant time to community outreach, global health initiatives and volunteerism. She has volunteered at free clinics, participated in health fairs providing screenings and education, and served underprivileged communities in Nicaragua and India through international mission work. In recognition of her service, she received the NEOMED Leadership in Community Service Award.
Her dedication to advancing pulmonary and critical care medicine is reflected in her ongoing work as a clinician, researcher, educator and leader across the University Hospitals health system.
