About

Dillon Burks, MD, is a pediatric cardiac intensivist in the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine.

Dr. Burks earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his pediatric residency followed by fellowship training in pediatric critical care medicine at UT Health Science Center in Houston. He then completed an advanced fellowship in cardiac critical care at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

Dr. Burks has academic interests in medical education, simulation-based training and the development of innovative approaches to teaching cardiovascular physiology and clinical decision making. His educational work focuses on using simulation to bridge foundational physiology with bedside management, including longitudinal and crisis-based simulation, multidisciplinary team training, and structured debriefing. He is particularly interested in developing educational strategies that help physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and respiratory therapists build shared mental models and improve clinical reasoning, communication and team performance in the cardiac intensive care unit.
