Scott M. Zimmer, MD, provides expert care for all disorders of the hand, elbow and shoulder from fracture care to joint replacement, including the latest arthroscopic treatments.
Dr. Zimmer completed his undergraduate studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with honors. He graduated first in his class from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, and advanced training in surgery of the hand, elbow and shoulder at the University of Florida, Shands Hospital.
Dr. Zimmer is a board-certified member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, a select group of top hand surgeons in the US.
Dr. Zimmer has been a leading hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgeon in Northeast Ohio for more than a decade. He has been named one of Cleveland's best orthopedic and hand surgeons for the last several years by his peers in the medical field. Dr. Zimmer serves as President of Medical Staff at UH Beachwood Medical Center.

Dr. Zimmer was/has been a doctor to my late husband since 2007. After my husband passed and I developed some hand issues, he was the ONLY doctor I would seek out for help. A very kind, considerate, compassionate doctor. Always keeping his patients best interest paramount. Very personable and always available either in person on the phone or by communicating with staff if you call in. Have NEVER had an issue with Dr. Zimmer the entire time we have been seeing him.

Dr. Zimmer appears competent and knowledgeable. I just wish he could slow down a tad and give the patients a chance to absorb the information so they can ask relevant questions. He's personable and easy to like. Maybe he needs to remember his patients are learning things in the moment that he already understands and seems common knowledge to him. But I in no way am criticizing his ability to provide care.I think he knows his business.

This was my first initial visit with Dr. Zimmer. As someone who previously worked in health care I was impressed with his warmth and compassion. He has an excellent bedside manner and a fantastic staff . He explained everything very thoroughly to me . I wasn't expecting to receive an injection that day and was nervous but he put me at ease . His manner is one other physicians would do well to emulate.

Was referred to Dr Zimmer from a friend as my Dr moved away- Dr Zimmer was friendly, effecient, experienced in my trigger finger issue, offered several options, we chose the best one together. He injected my finger and the trigger is now relaxed and gone. He explained wearing a splint at night to hopefully keep,it from coming back- explained the surgery which my be necessary on the future
I need 2 shoulder replacements and the provider is being very cautious due the fact I have an underlying neck issue that he would like to addressed. Which I understand completely but is still frustrating because I'm in pain.
