When I told the nurse how I was feeling she then went out to talk to Dr. Zhao and the nurse came back in and she said Dr. Zhao wanted her to do an ultrasound I felt like he cared about me as a patient and he listened to me I would recommend him to people I know who needed a urologist thank you Dr. Zhao.

My only comment would be: Several days before the appointment I called the office to see if I needed to have a PSA blood test performed (specific to this type of doctor's work), and I was informed I would not. I visited very quickly with the doctor, and he ordered a PSA lab request, and then said we might meet again if the numbers came back high. I feel I should have had that PSA blood work done prior to the appointment - I knew it was necessary...that's why I called - and now we're playing catch-up and doing it after-the-fact. Other than that...all is good.

Good visit. Everyone is nice, professional. Dr. Zhao and I have very clear communication about my health issues. He's operated on me several times and I have complete confidence in him. Would and have recommended.

I was so happy that Dr. Zhao was able to retrieve 3 of my kidney stones to biopsy. I definitely want to work with a dietitian to make changes to my diet. I want to do everything in my power to avoid getting any more kidney stones!!! I never knew that healthy food could contribute to kidney stones. Knowledge is power.

Dr. Zhao was excellent in every way! Waking up from surgery was rough but it had to be done. I called the office with questions a couple times after surgery and Dr. Zhao called me himself to answer the questions. Before surgery I explained that I would be traveling to *** for vacation the day after surgery. Dr. Zhao called to check on me and even asked if I was enjoyed my *** vacation. He has treated multiple family members in the past and he made me feel very comfortable just as my family members said he did with them. Dr. Zhao is a superb doctor and a fantastic man! Thanks, Dr. Zhao! You are truly the best!

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.

As of December 31, 2016, John Zhao did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
