About

Ellen Wiegner, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist with extensive experience in treating many types of cancer with a special interest in breast and gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, esophageal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary and anal cancers. Her areas of technical expertise include adaptive radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 3D-conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and brachytherapy.

Dr. Wiegner joined University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in December 2024. Prior to joining University Hospitals, she was a radiation oncologist at Dignity Health in Northern California.

Dr. Wiegner earned her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine (Stanford, California) in 2007. She went on to complete an internship in internal medicine and a residency in radiation oncology at Stanford University Medical Center in 2008 and 2012, respectively.

Among other awards and honors, Dr. Wiegner is the recipient of the American Brachytherapy Society HDR Brachytherapy Scholarship Award, 2013; Malcolm Bagshaw Outstanding Resident Award Recipient, Stanford University, 2012; and Chief Resident, Department of Radiation Oncology, Stanford University, 2011. She has published a number of medical abstracts and articles in the area of radiation oncology. Peer-reviewed medical journals in which her work appears include International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics; Practical Radiation Oncology; Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy; Diseases of the Esophagus; and Pediatric Blood & Cancer.
