About
Apoorwa Thati, MD, is a pulmonary and critical care attending physician at University Hospitals Respiratory Health Institute and an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Thati is certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her area of focus in pulmonary medicine is interstitial lung disease (ILD). Her critical care focus includes acute respiratory distress syndrome, extracorporeal life support and medical education. She sees patients at UH Cleveland Medical Center Bolwell Health Center (Cleveland, Ohio) and UH Lake SOM Health Center (Willoughby, Ohio).
Dr. Thati attended Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia), where she received a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience and behavioral biology and a Master of Science in biology in 2012. She went on to study at Tufts University (Boston, Massachusetts), where she earned a Master of Science in biomedical sciences in 2014. Dr. Thati obtained her medical degree at East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, Tennessee) in 2018. Her training included an internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, completed in 2022, where she served as Chief Resident from July 2021 to June 2022; and pulmonary and critical care fellowship completed at Cleveland Clinic in 2025, where she served as Academic Chief Fellow.
Among other honors and awards, Dr. Thati is the recipient of the Margaret and Arthur Houghland Medical Scholarship, Quillen College of Medicine, 2016; and Biomedical Sciences Academic Achievement Award, Tufts University, May 2015. Her research has appeared or has been accepted to appear in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr. Thati is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
