About
Jochen Son-Hing, MD, FRCSC, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center. He also sees patients at UH Westlake and UH Mentor health centers. He is Assistant Professor, Orthopedics and Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Son-Hing is board-certified in orthopedics and is certified in advanced trauma life support. His research interests include the correction of pediatric scoliosis, acute and chronic fracture/trauma care and and other pediatric spinal deformities. He joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital staff in 2006.
Dr. Son-Hing graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from McGill University in Montreal and earned his medical degree from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of British Columbia followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. He received further subspecialty training in spinal deformity surgery at Washington University, St. Louis.Dr. Son-Hing’s research interest is the surgical correction of scoliosis. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and coauthored 10 textbook chapters on pediatric orthopedic problems. He is a frequent presenter at medical meetings and conferences in the United States, Canada and internationally, speaking on innovations and outcomes in scoliosis surgery.
