About
Mary Solomon, DO, is a specialist in sports medicine in the Division of Pediatric Sports Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. She is Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Solomon is board certified in pediatrics and sports medicine and is certified in pediatric advanced life support and basic life support. Her special interest is concussion prevention and treatment in young athletes. She was named to the medical staff at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in 2012.
Dr. Solomon earned a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and her degree in osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, A. T. Still University of Health Science, Kirksville, Mo. She served a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Solomon’s research interest is concussion diagnosis, treatment and prevention. She currently is Principal Investigator for a study on the computerized reporting and treatment of concussion in high school athletes.
She is a frequent presenter at regional and national sports medicine conferences, speaking on injury prevention and concussion diagnosis and treatment in young athletes. Dr. Solomon also is active in the community as a speaker to local schools, teams and community group and as team physician for many local high school and college teams, including Beachwood, Bedford, Benedictine and Cleveland Heights high schools and Case Western Reserve University. She also regularly serves as the onsite emergency physician for youth sports events in the area, including figure skating, lacrosse, soccer and wrestling competitions.
She is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatricians. She sits on the American Osteopathic Association Conjoint Sports Medicine Exam Committee and is active member of the Pediatric Sports Medicine Education Committee for the American Osteopathic Association. Her many professional memberships also include the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine.
