About

Rebecca H. Siegel, MD, is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician with fellowship training and specialization in pediatric rehabilitation medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive care of infants, children and adolescents with complex medical and developmental conditions, including cerebral palsy, brain and spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, limb deficiency and other causes of functional impairment. She is dedicated to optimizing mobility, function and quality of life through individualized, interdisciplinary care.

From a clinical and procedural standpoint, Dr. Siegel has expertise in tone management, rehabilitation of medically complex patients, adaptive equipment prescription and coordination of multidisciplinary therapies. She has particular interest in early rehabilitation consultation; sports participation for children with disabilities; and improving functional outcomes across the continuum of care, including acute, inpatient and outpatient settings.

Dr. Siegel joined University Hospitals and University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in 2025, where she serves as an attending physician in pediatric rehabilitation medicine. She also holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Prior to relocating to Cleveland, she practiced in Boston at Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children, where she also served as an instructor at Harvard Medical School. During her time at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Siegel led the Pediatric Rehabilitation General Consult Service and played a key role in supporting Level 1 trauma center certification.

Dr. Siegel earned her bachelor’s degree in biology, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Goucher College; and her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her internship in internal medicine at MetroHealth System, followed by residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. She then completed fellowship training in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

An active researcher and educator, Dr. Siegel has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presents nationally and internationally on topics that include pediatric brain and spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, and sports participation among youth with limb deficiency. She has received national recognition for her work, including a First Place Young Investigator Award from the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics. Her research focuses on improving access to rehabilitation care, enhancing early consultation models and advancing outcomes for children with disabilities.

Dr. Siegel is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where she has held a leadership role within the Pediatric Rehabilitation Community. She is committed to education and mentorship, regularly teaching trainees and multidisciplinary providers and contributing to national educational initiatives.
