About
Patricia Shumay is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and owner of Shumay Counseling Services, LLC. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree in clinical counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in counselor education and supervision.
Patricia is experienced in assisting individuals and couples with a wide variety of emotional and relational issues. However, she chose to specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety and couples therapy during her advanced internship. Prior to becoming an LPCC, Patricia excelled in various corporate settings as a manager and entrepreneur. She brings the same dedication and superior level of service to her present clients, whether an individual, couple, group or corporation.
Patricia is a member of the American Counseling Association; Ohio Counseling Association; and Ohio Association for Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling. She is a former Newsletter Chairperson of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society, Kappa Sigma Upsilon Chapter, at Kent State University. In addition, Patricia serves on the leadership team of Under His Wings Ministry, where she equips and encourages Christian leaders in various business, church and retreat settings through presentations and group activities.
When not counseling, researching or serving, Patricia enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, tennis, running, hiking and attending musicals and the orchestra with her family and friends.
