About
Pallavi Sharma, MD, is a critical care and pulmonary medicine physician at University Hospitals. She is an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and is board-certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. Her areas of focus in pulmonary medicine include interstitial lung disease and environmental and occupational lung disease. Her critical care focus includes quality improvement and education for trainees.
Dr. Sharma earned her Bachelor of Science in integrated life sciences at Kent State University and her medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) in a combined six-year BS/MD program. She completed her residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care at UH Cleveland Medical Center.
Dr. Sharma is active in clinical research and has participated in and led several studies in the field of critical care and pulmonary medicine. She has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented her research at regional and national meetings and conferences.
Dr. Sharma is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. She is also quality chair of the Resuscitation Committee at UH Cleveland Medical Center, which aims to improve quality of care in cardiac arrest response.
In addition to her professional duties, Dr. Sharma is an ardent volunteer and is passionate about helping underserved communities. She has spent time as a free clinic volunteer and has participated in numerous health fairs that offer free screenings, assessments and health education to attendees. In addition, Dr. Sharma has served underprivileged communities in Nicaragua and India through her international mission work. In recognition of her service contributions, Dr. Sharma was awarded the NEOMED Leadership in Community Service Award.
