About
Soumyajit Roy, MBBS, MD, MSc, is a radiation oncologist with University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. His areas of expertise are prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer and lung cancer.
Dr. Roy attended Calcutta National Medical College (Kolkata, India), where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2010. Subsequently, he completed a residency in radiation oncology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi, India) in 2016. Thereafter, he completed advanced clinical and research fellowships in radiation oncology at the University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, and University of Ottawa in Canada, and National Cancer Institute at National Institutes of Health. He finished his residency training in radiation oncology at the Rush University Medical Center (Chicago, Illinois) in 2025. Dr. Roy was the first B. Leonard Holman Scholar resident in radiation oncology at the Rush University Medical Center. He also completed a Master of Science in epidemiology and biostatistics in 2024 at The University of Edinburgh (Scotland).
Dr. Roy has been recognized with numerous honors and awards, including the Abstract Award by American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in 2022; and the Merit Award by American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) consecutively in 2023, 2024 and 2025. He was the member of the winning team for ARRO (Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology) National Quiz Bowl sponsored by Varian Medical Systems. Additionally, he won Best Poster award and Travel Grant from European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress in the Advanced Prostate Cancer Category in 2022. He was an Outstanding Performer at National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2019. Professional societies in which Dr. Roy is a member include ASCO, American Society for Radiation Oncology and Association of Radiation Oncologists of India.
A prolific researcher, educator and writer, Dr. Roy has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, article and abstract reviews, book chapters and poster presentations. He also serves as an Associate editor for Advances in Radiation Oncology, an official journal from American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and as an ad hoc peer reviewer for a number of top-tier medical journals, including European Urology, Journal of National Cancer Institute, Journal of National Comprehensive Cancer Network, International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology Physics, Radiotherapy and Oncology, among others.
