About

Kelsie Rhyne, DO, is a primary care sports medicine and emergency medicine physician with specialized training in the care of athletes and active individuals across all levels of competition. A staff member of University Hospitals and University Hospitals Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute, Dr. Rhyne sees patients at locations in Avon, Berea, Rocky River, Westlake and Beachwood, Ohio. Her clinical interests include sports injury evaluation and management, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures and comprehensive athlete care. She combines emergency medicine expertise with advanced sports medicine training to provide patient-centered care in both clinical and athletic settings.

Dr. Rhyne attended Brevard College (Brevard, North Carolina), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in health science while competing as a Division II student-athlete in both basketball and golf, graduating summa cum laude in 2018. She obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Campbell University (Lillington, North Carolina), graduating magna cum laude in 2022. Dr. Rhyne’s postdoctoral training included an emergency medicine residency completed at University Hospitals in 2025 and a sports medicine fellowship at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital completed in 2026.

Dr. Rhyne is actively involved in medical education and has taught medical students, residents, coaches, parents and fellow healthcare professionals. She has delivered lectures on such topics as musculoskeletal examination skills, shoulder trauma, emergency medicine, ultrasound procedural techniques and airway management.

Dr. Rhyne has extensive sports medicine coverage experience spanning youth, high school, collegiate, professional and endurance sports. She currently serves as Associate Team Physician for Oberlin College and Team Physician for West Geauga High School. During her fellowship, she provided coverage for Case Western Reserve University, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School and the Cleveland Browns, participating in training room, practice and sideline coverage. Her experience also includes work with the Cleveland Monsters, Kent State Women’s Basketball, the Cleveland Marathon, the Tri CLE Rock and Roll Run, and the Pan American Masters Games. She also regularly performs pre-participation sports physicals for collegiate athletes.

Dr. Rhyne is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), Emergency Medicine Residency Association/ACEP Sports Medicine Division, American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) and American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
