About

Ram C. Ravi, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, as well as venous and lymphatic medicine. He is also trained in advanced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Dr. Ravi graduated from the University of Jaffna in Sri-Lanka with a gold medal in surgery. He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic’s Lutheran and Fairview hospitals. After his residency training, Dr. Ravi worked with Fairview Medical Group as an attending physician. He was also Chief of Internal Medicine at Fairview Hospital for five years before leaving to pursue his passion in vein care. Since then, he has worked as a physician with Ohio Medical Group in Westlake, Ohio. Over the past 25 years, he has been a teaching attendant with various residency teaching programs.

Dr. Ravi has had extensive training and years of experience in phlebology with an emphasis on the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of varicose vein disease and related disorders. He performs outpatient procedures such as ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, Varithena sclerotherapy, endovenous laser treatment and endovenous adhesive sclerotherapy. In selected patients, he also performs outpatient phlebectomies (vein removal).

Dr. Ravi’s refined use of these minimally invasive procedures allows him to meet the needs of each patient by treating a wide spectrum of symptomatic venous insufficiency from varicose veins to complex leg conditions in a comfortable, outpatient environment. He not only cares for patients with acute medical problems in outpatient and inpatient settings, he also strongly believes in preventive medical care and applies this to his patients. He is supported by an exceptional clinical and administrative team dedicated to excellence in the treatment of general medical care and chronic vein disorders.

Dr. Ravi is a member of the American Venous and Lymphatic Society, American College of Physicians and American Medical Association.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.

As of December 31, 2016, Ram Ravi did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
