About
Dr. Proweller received his BA degree from Oberlin College and MD and PhD degrees from the University of Rochester. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago, followed by a clinical fellowship and post-doctoral training in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2008, Dr. Proweller joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University and UH Cleveland Medical Center as a principal investigator and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Case Cardiovascular Research Institute and Cardiovascular Medicine Division. Dr. Proweller provides attending supervision for medical students, internal medicine residents, and fellows on the inpatient cardiology services and coordinates research mentorship opportunities and the Harrington Physician-Scientist pathway for internal medicine trainees. Dr. Proweller's scientific interests focus on fundamental roles for smooth muscle signaling in the patterning and maturation of blood vessels. His laboratory's long-term goal is to determine how cellular derangements from signaling dysfunction are linked to human vascular diseases.
