Thomas Joseph (TJ) O’Neill, MD, is an advanced heart failure and heart transplantation specialist with University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. O’Neill is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He completed a second fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. O’Neill has earned several clinical and academic honors during his tenure.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. O’Neill is an avid researcher, with roles as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on multiple heart failure related clinical trials. Additionally, he has provided over 40 professional lectures on the management of advanced heart failure and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts.
Dr. O’Neill is an active member of renowned organizations including the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Transplantation, Heart Failure Society of American, and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
