About
Sashelin Naidoo, MD, is an attending cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. He is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Naidoo’s areas of expertise include complex cardiac surgical procedures and the surgical treatment of heart failure, including mechanical circulatory support, ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation. His additional clinical interests include coronary artery disease and aortic and valvular heart disease.
Dr. Naidoo earned his medical degree with academic honors from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He then completed general surgery training followed by residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, where he also earned a master’s degree in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Naidoo pursued advanced fellowship training in the United States at the Cleveland Clinic, where he focused on complex cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Naidoo has authored and co-authored multiple peer reviewed publications in leading medical journals. He is also an active member in professional organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgeons (EACTS).
