About

Kyia Mountain, APRN-CNP, DNP, NBC-HWC, is an advanced practice registered nurse practitioner and certified health and wellness coach in the Women’s Cardiovascular Center at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. She has extensive experience managing patients with heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart valve disease, heart failure and cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome.

In her current role with the Women’s Cardiovascular Center, Kyia focuses on preventive cardiovascular risk assessment for women in midlife or those with postpartum hypertension. She previously served as a team clinician in the Center for Integrated and Novel Approaches in Vascular-Metabolic Disease at UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, supporting the management of patients with overlapping conditions of diabetes, kidney and cardiovascular disease.

Kyia earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland. She then completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) as an invited member of Sigma Theta Tau Golden Key International Honor Society at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing in Cincinnati. During her DNP program, she was awarded the prestigious National Health Service Corps scholarship in recognition of her commitment to serving medically underserved communities.

Prior to joining University Hospitals, Kyia was a critical care nurse at Denver Health Hospital in Denver, where she was recognized with the Compassionate Care Award and the Heroes of the Heart Award for her exemplary care of patients. She served as clinical faculty at University of Colorado Anschutz College of Nursing and Denver College of Nursing. She later served as a family nurse practitioner at Silver Health Care in Silver City, New Mexico, and then as a nurse practitioner in outpatient cardiology at Holy Cross Medical Center in Taos, New Mexico.

Kyia has advanced professional certifications including Foundations of Cardiometabolic Health Certification from the Cardiometabolic Health Congress, and Health and Wellbeing Coaching Certification from the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBC-HWC).
