About

Lauren A McKenzie, MD, is an OB/GYN provider at University Hospitals and the assistant medical director of OB/GYN at UH Ahuja Rainbow Center for Women & Children. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Division of Academic Generalists at UH Cleveland Medical Center. Dr. McKenzie’s clinical interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, family planning, contraception management, LGBTQ+ care and delivering equitable health care.

Dr. McKenzie earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Cincinnati and her medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at UH Cleveland Medical Center.

During her time at University Hospitals, Dr. McKenzie has served on several committees and groups, with a special focus on areas such as diversity and disparities in healthcare. She co-founded and served as co-president of the Minority House Staff Association to foster mentorships for minority residents and fellows. She is also a member of the Anti-Racism Committee, which aims to counter systemic racism and promote social justice in medicine. Other committee work includes the Graduate Medical Education Committee, the Executive Chief Resident and the Residency Application Review Committee.

Dr. McKenzie is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She has also garnered several awards and accolades during her career, including the Resident Community Service Award, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Residency Award and the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine Award for Excellence in Obstetrics.

In her spare time, Dr. McKenzie enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, reading, throwing pottery and sports.
