About

Scott H. McCallister, MD, FACC, is a general cardiologist and cardiovascular imaging specialist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.

Dr. McCallister earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. His postdoctoral training included an internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Indiana Heart Institute of St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dr. McCallister is board certified in cardiovascular disease with additional certification in nuclear cardiology. He began his medical career at the Mid-America Heart Institute of St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri as a clinical research assistant and National Institutes of Health registry coordinator. He then worked as an emergency room physician at the Apple Valley Medical Center in Minnesota and Jackson Foote Memorial Hospital in Michigan. As he honed his skills in the field of cardiovascular medicine, Dr. McCallister took a position as an interventional cardiologist at Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix. He would later move to Northeast Ohio and join North Ohio Heart, Inc. as an interventional cardiologist. He has been in practice for almost 30 years.

Outside of caring for his patients, Dr. McCallister has actively participated in medical organizations, with stints as president of the Michigan Cardiology Fellows Society and cardiology fellow representative for the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. In addition, he has held various leadership roles at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Ohio, including Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff.

Dr. McCallister is a member of national professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and American Medical Association. He is recognized as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. On a local level, Dr. McCallister is a member of the Lorain County Medical Society.
