About

Jennifer B. Levin, PhD, is a full professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a clinical psychologist specializing in behavioral medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She is Co-Director of the Behavioral Health Research Group and the Psychiatry Research Collaborative, as well as a research scholar in the Neurological and Behavioral Outcomes Center at UH Cleveland Medical Center.

Dr. Levin has developed an externally funded program of clinical research that focuses on health promotion and self-management approaches for individuals with mental health conditions, many of whom are at risk for or are living with cardiovascular conditions. Funding sources include the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from both the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI); the American Heart Association; and foundations and industry.

Dr. Levin has authored over 85 peer-reviewed articles. Her publications often highlight innovative interventions that bridge the gap between mental health and physical health care. Demonstrating national and international recognition for her work, Dr. Levin has served on a standing NIH grant review committee and is currently on the Psychology Interventions for Bipolar Disorder Task Force for the International Society of Bipolar Disorder. She is also on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), the leading national organization for individuals with mood disorders.

With the support of the Lorraine and Bill Dodero Limb Preservation Center, Dr. Levin is also building a Behavioral Medicine Research Program in collaboration with Dr. Mehdi Shishehbor, President of the University Hospitals Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute, with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing the psychosocial needs of patients with critical limb ischemia.
