Haitham Khraishah, MD, is a preventive cardiologist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Khraishah specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and management of a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart valve disease, aortic disease, peripheral artery disease and heart failure. His clinical practice also includes a focus on prevention through the institute’s Center for Integrated and Novel Approaches in Vascular-Metabolic Disease (CINEMA), with an emphasis on healthy lifestyle interventions among patients with diabetes.

Dr. Khraishah earned his medical degree with honors as valedictorian from Kuwait University Faculty of Medicine in Kuwait City, Kuwait. He then completed an internship, internal medicine residency and research fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his residency, he was recognized for his academic excellence, earning the Resident Research Award. He subsequently pursued a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was honored with the Dr. Elijah Saunders Distinction in Cardiovascular Research Award and the JoAnn Nam Hong Memorial Award for his compassion, exemplary clinical care, and outstanding scholarly activity.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Khraishah has co-authored nearly 40 publications on cardiovascular prevention and treatment. His work focuses on the effects of environmental exposures, including climate change and extreme ambient temperatures, on cardiovascular health. He has also contributed to topics such as women’s cardiovascular health and the global burden of cardiovascular disease beyond traditional risk factors. Dr. Khraishah has been an invited lecturer at medical conferences, sharing insights on these topics and advancing awareness of the intersection between environmental and cardiovascular health. Dr. Khraishah is committed to advancing cardiovascular care through patient-centered practice, innovative research and education.
