This was my first visit to Dr. Kappus. My primary physician, Dr. Kenneth Nekl, retired. My wife has been a patient of Dr. Kappus for years. I was pleased that Dr. Kappus' practice agreed to take me as a new patient. I was very pleased with Dr. Kappus' explanation of his philosophy of patient care as a D.O.. He was open, direct, responsive, Informative and welcoming. Looking forward to having Dr. Kappus as my primary physician.

Good conversation with the Doctor. I am generally very healthy and happy so not too much to talk about.

The provider takes time to make sure you understand, and he understands the issue before moving along. So if he runs late, I figure he is giving the same curtesy to others.

Dr Kappus takes time with his patients. I'm satisfied seeing him as my FP. Very good, caring doctor.

I like Dr. Kappus and have confidence in him. I think the blood work should be done before seeing the doctor. That way he can discuss the results with me. I had my blood work done after my exam. I can see the results on my account, but I have not been contacted by anyone. My appointment was ***, so it has not been a week yet. I also think an EKG and a more thorough exam should be standard. I also think the numerous pages of questions are not necessary.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.

As of December 31, 2016, Brendan Kappus did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
