Marie Hickey, DNP, is a family-certified advanced practice nurse at University Hospitals. Her clinical interests include the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health issues in primary care.
Hickey earned her undergraduate degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She went on to study at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton College in Nursing in Cleveland, where she completed a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in nursing. Hickey earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Rush University in Chicago.
Prior to working at University Hospitals, Hickey was the director of the nurse practitioner programs at Kent State University. She also worked as a clinical preceptor preparing new nurse practitioners.
Hickey is active in community volunteering at Hudson City Schools and St. Mary Catholic Church in Hudson, Ohio. She is also involved in the Hibernian organization in Northeast Ohio.
Hickey and her husband are the parents of two daughters and reside in Hudon.

I look upon Marie Hickey as my premier "Gate Keeper" She is thorough in her review of test results, asks pertinent and timely questions about my health, makes recommendations as to future care, takes time and patiently addresses health issues that I have presented. Where referral to another provider is necessary she makes recommendations to other doctors, and goes out of her way to facilitate scheduling appointment(s). In simple terms, I have the utmost faith and trust in Marie's care and concerns for my health.
Marie is extremely thorough and takes her time with me to review my health issues and plan of care. I know some people complain because she does run behind but I would rather wait a bit longer and get her total, focused attention and be able to ask my own questions without feeling like either of us rushing.She is an outstanding, knowledgeable provider and truly cares about her patients' health and wellbeing.

My husband and I moved out of the area where there was University Hospitals. I checked out a new doctor for the *** and did not find a doctor that I was satisfied with so I wanted to come back to UH and the team that took such wonderful care of me even if that meant driving 45 minutes or more.
