About
Jason Gulati, DO was a bit of a wanderer in the literal and figurative sense before finding himself in pursuit of a career in medicine. After living in Spokane, Washington through his adolescence, he attended the University of Missouri where he explored careers in journalism and radiography. After graduating with a BHSc in Radiologic Sciences, he returned to MU to complete his pre-medical coursework and attended AT Still University at their Kirksville campus. He completed his clinical education at their Detroit Medical Campus, met his spouse there, married into the US Army, and matched to an Internal Medicine program in Honolulu, Hawaii. However, he left that program shortly after to pursue an even wider spectrum of medicine, and came to Cleveland for the first time as a Med/Peds resident at MetroHealth Medical Center.
During residency, he engaged in a number of national advocacy projects as part of a nonprofit especially as the COVID pandemic highlighted vulnerabilities in hospital systems across the country. These projects addressed resident compensation, safe staffing ratios, and behavioral health access for healthcare workers, and workplace violence. Dr. Gulati joined the UH St. John Internal Medicine residency program because the values of hospital leadership aligned so closely with his advocacy work.
In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his wife (an EM physician) and two award-winning Newfoundland dogs, waxing philosophical on medical education, karaoke, and quite a bit of gaming.
