DR MARTY IS CLEARLY MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANY OTHER

Reviewed On 11/1/2022
I was treated very poorly by the nurse and doctor. I was actually offended by the questions they asked me and was stunned due to my husband being a nurse in the military. I told him the things that were said to me and he was completely taken aback. The nurse asked me for a urine sample. I didn't think anything of this. I did as I was directed and left the sample next to the sink in the room I was waiting for the doctor in. He came in very accusatory because I had told them I needed to set up primary care and I'm on anxiety medication (Wellbutrin) and a very low dose of adderall. Before anything else he told me I was too old for this medication. I really didn't know what to say to that. He hadn't really talked to me at that point so I just sat there a little confused. Then mid sentence he looked over at the urine sample I had left and asked me if I brought it from home. I didn't even know what he was referring to at first because his nurse is the one that asked me to do that. I assumed it was protocol since I was new there but when he asked that, in the tone he used, I felt very stereotyped. I just moved back to the area and had a great doctor where I previously lived who put me on these medications due to severe anxiety that began to effect my life after losing a child a few years back. Previous to this I was on zero medications. I now take 2. That's it. The low dose of adderal I received previously was filled maybe every other month due to me not wanting to take too much medication. Either way, I would rather never see a doctor again then go through what I did. I was embarrassed and made to feel ashamed because I'm on these medications. I'm still upset to date and do not want to receive any more care from this doctor and I'm not sure I will be able to go back to a doctor again. I think I'd rather be depressed and have anxiety then be stigmatized the way I was. I have never been treated worse.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
