About

Thomaz Fleury, MD, is an otolaryngologist and craniofacial surgeon with clinical and surgical experience in the treatment of upper airways and its most common pathology, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Dr. Fleury’s clinical interests include surgical procedures for treating sleep apnea such as functional and cosmetic nasal surgery; soft tissue procedures such as uvulopalatoplasty, tongue base surgery, hypoglossal nerve stimulation; and skeletal procedures such as palatal expansion (DOME), maxillomandibular advancement surgery (MMA) and genioplasty. He is widely regarded as an expert in sleep medicine and sleep surgery, ranking in the top percentile of biomedical expert rankings.

Dr. Fleury earned his PhD through a combined program at the University of Sao Paulo and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The PhD was followed by a post-doctorate at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on the development of novel treatments for sleep apnea. He went on to complete a surgical fellowship in sleep surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, recognized as one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country.

Over his academic career, Dr. Fleury has received several prestigious awards including the American Heart Association Career Development Award for his work in the field of translational approaches to treat OSA. He has authored numerous internationally recognized peer-reviewed publications, has been prominently featured in international meetings and is the recipient of several scientific merit awards.

Dr. Fleury was vey cordial and kind. He did a thorough exam of the back of my throat where the issue was and allowed me to watch. I didn't gag at all and that's how I knew this doctor was excellent due to his skill and concern. The office staff was cordial as well.

Dr Fleury was excellent! Very professional and personable. He listened to my concern and took it seriously. He did his exam and explained everything with detail and answered all of my questions. He resolved my concern as well as another Issue and I am feeling so much better! I have already recommended him to others.

Dr. Fleury and his entire staff were excellent. The receptionist and medical assistant were friendly and helpful. Dr. Fleury listened to my concerns, thoroughly explained what to expect during his exam of my sinuses, and came up with a plan to help figure out a solution to my medical concern. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Fleury and his team.
