Biography

Deanna Dahl-Grove, MD, FAAP, is a pediatric emergency physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. She is Associate Professor, Pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Dahl-Grove is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine and certified in advanced pediatric life support and advanced trauma life support. Her special interest is pediatric disaster medicine.

She earned her undergraduate degree in nutritional sciences with honors from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich., and her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Dahl-Grove completed her residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. She has taken advanced courses in managing children’s medical needs during disasters.

Dr. Dahl-Grove was appointed to the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital staff in 1997.

She has authored and coauthored articles in peer-reviewed pediatric and emergency medicine publications and books and is a frequent speaker at local, regional and national medical and disaster preparedness conferences and meetings.

Dr. Dahl-Grove is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Her volunteer activities include serving as chair of the AAP Pediatric Emergency Medicine Disaster Committee and participating in planning the AAP Pediatric Emergency Medicine Leadership Conference for 2017. She also is a member of the Northeast Ohio Disaster Medical Assistance Team. She has participated in emergency medical services for children in Ohio since 1997 and is Assistant Medical Director for Pediatrics for the City of Cleveland.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
