This was the first time I saw this provider, who was willing to see me soon after I called for an appointment. I tried to call my primary care physician, but would need to wait 3 months for an appointment, which was not acceptable. I had a condition which required attention right away, but was not appropriate for an Urgent Care visit. Dr. Bernardo's staff scheduled an x-ray at the end of my appointment with her, and the x-ray took place the next morning. Dr. Bernardo understood the need for an x-ray right away, and the x-ray folks referred me to a specialist, who is handling my case. I hope to have Dr. Bernardo as my primary care physician now.

She is a top Doctor, asked me a lot of questions and seemed very concerned to provide the best care for me.

Dr Bernardo is the best physician I've ever seen in my adult life. She listens and doesn't make me feel rushed, or silly, at all. After just the first visit with her, I recommended my husband switch to her as well. I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Bernardo was not the doctor I normally see for regular appointments, but she will be going forward. My previous doctor in the same practice had gotten too busy. Dr. Bernardo was excellent, answered all my questions, checked for all of the tests I might be needing. I look forward to continuing to see her as my primary care physician.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
