Saira Afzal, MD, is a neurologist at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center and a Clinical Assistant Professor of neurology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She specializes in neuroimmunology, with a particular focus on multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system.

Dr. Afzal earned her medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, followed by a neurology residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where she served as Chief Resident. She subsequently completed a fellowship in neuroimmunology at Cleveland Clinic's Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis Treatment and Research in Cleveland, Ohio. She is dual board certified in internal medicine and neurology.

Dr. Afzal's clinical interests include multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), and other autoimmune and inflammatory neurological conditions. She is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care and helping patients navigate complex neurological conditions.
