About

Hassan Aboumerhi, MD, is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician who specializes in the treatment of a wide variety of chronic pain issues including arthritis pain, neuropathy, spine pain and complex regional pain syndrome. He has special training in advanced procedures such as kyphoplasty, minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD) and spinal cord stimulation. 

Dr. Aboumerhi was born and raised in the Cleveland suburbs where he grew up playing soccer with the dream of becoming a physician. After graduating valedictorian from Mentor High School, he attended Northeast Ohio Medical University's (NEOMED) BS/MD program. His interest in interventions as well as patient advocacy led him to an anesthesiology residency at the University of Chicago. During his time as a resident, he was awarded the Society for Education in Anesthesia's (SEA) Fellowship to teach anesthesiology to providers and students in Vietnam and he maintains an active interest in medical education and global outreach. During residency, Dr. Aboumerhi developed a passion for managing chronic pain and was selected for fellowship in multidisciplinary pain management at Northwestern University. After seven years in Chicago, Dr. Aboumerhi returned home to the Cleveland area to care for his hometown community.

Dr. Aboumerhi is also a board member of the Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA), which manages and provides medical relief all over the world, and he chairs the students & residents committee to foster mentorship and networking among trainees. He is an active professional society member and is passionate for contributing to innovations in the field to meet the challenges of pain medicine head-on. In his free time, Dr. Aboumerhi enjoys soccer, family time and traveling.
