Connecting with Patients via MyChart
August 18, 2022
UH Clinical Update | August 2022
MyChart is Epic’s user-friendly, customizable patient portal, where patients can take ownership of their health, connect to providers, access health records and complete tasks. This tool will be available to UH patients as we implement our new Epic electronic health record (EHR) across the system in 2023. Our clinicians and other caregivers will be critical in connecting our patients and their families with this resource, and so we ask you to learn the features of MyChart before go-live. Find more information on MyChart, the latest clinical updates from our UH Epic Readiness Groups and much more by visiting it.uhhospitals.org/Epic.
Once UH is fully live on Epic across our system, patients will be able to use MyChart to:
- Send and receive messages, letters and questionnaires
- Complete mobile check-in before appointments
- Message their provider for non-urgent medical questions
- Schedule appointments
- Request medication refills or referrals to a specialist
- Pay a bill and view billing estimates
Videos are available on the Epic UserWeb so that providers and caregivers can learn more about MyChart, including:
- Cool Features in MyChart – this five-minute video provides a more in-depth overview of the most popular features of MyChart.
- MyChart – Epic’s Patient to Provider Portal – this short video provides an example of the conversation you may have with patients to inform them of the features of MyChart.
- Overview of MyChart – in this weLearning lesson, experience MyChart from the patient’s perspective, including what information they can access, where it comes from in Epic, and how patients can relay information to UH or submit health information directly to Hyperspace.
