Watch Dr. Max Wiznitzer’s Health Talks
Max Wiznitzer, MD, is a pediatric neurologist in the Neurologic Institute at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. He is a Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Wiznitzer is board certified in pediatrics, neurology with a special qualification in child neurology and neurodevelopmental disabilities. His special interests include attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, developmental and behavioral disorders, and pediatric neurology. He was named to the UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital staff in 1986.
Dr. Wiznitzer earned a bachelor's degree in medical education from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed a pediatrics residency and a fellowship in developmental disorders at Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, and a fellowship in pediatric neurology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa. He completed his postdoctoral training as a National Institutes of Health National Research fellow in higher cortical functions at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y.
His research interests include autism and pediatric stroke. He has served as Principal Investigator, co-investigator, and consultant on research studies in these areas funded by the National Institutes of Health and other institutions.
Dr. Wiznitzer has authored or co-authored 11 textbook chapters and nearly 70 scientific papers in leading medical journals. He is a reviewer for Neurology, Journal of Child Neurology, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatrics, Lancet Neurology, and Brain and serves on several editorial boards. He has presented more than 50 abstracts and more than 200 lectures at national medical meetings and community, parent and education groups, speaking on autism, ADHD, and other pediatric neurology and development topics.
Dr. Wiznitzer is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, and the Society of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.
