About
Rikesh K. Patel, DO, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement and complex reconstruction of the adult hip and knee. His special interests include minimally invasive direct superior total hip replacement, muscle-sparing subvastus total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, complex primary joint replacement for post-traumatic and congenital deformities, and revision surgery for mechanical and infectious complications of total hip and knee replacement. Dr. Patel’s interests also include general orthopedic conditions, among them the operative and non-operative treatment of fractures and trauma, musculoskeletal infections, and other bone and joint conditions.
Dr. Patel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He went on to complete a post-baccalaureate at Georgetown University with a focus in Physiology. He then earned his doctorate from Midwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Patel completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He then traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona to do a fellowship in adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery with a strong focus on outpatient joint replacement, complex revision arthroplasty, minimally invasive joint replacement procedures and robotic-assisted total joint arthroplasty.
A member of multiple national and international medical societies, Dr. Patel serves on committees for the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO). He is also a reviewer for publication submissions to the Journal of Arthroplasty.
A native of Chicago, Dr. Patel decided to make Cleveland his home after spending the greater part of his professional training in northeast Ohio. He is passionate about working with patients of all ages with the common goal of getting them back on their feet and towards a healthy and active lifestyle. When he is not working, Dr. Patel enjoys road biking, snowboarding, perfecting homemade pizzas and spending time with his family.
