Given the circumstances, I would not have wanted any other doctor to do the surgery. From the time we met, I felt comfortable and safe. I felt confident that she was the right doctor to do the surgery. I would highly recommend her.

Dr. Jennifer gave me excellent attention and advice. I was a new patient and wanted to have a surgeon in *** who was familiar with the *** surgery I had in Florida in case of any future emergencies. Dr. Jennifer also had me see an ostomy nurse while I was there and did a scope of my pouch. She gave me all her phone numbers including her cell number to use in emergency. I was extremely pleased with the thoroughness of the examination and the time spent with me at that appointment.

She is a amazing surgeon she is always available to answer questions or address concerns. She is always kind, patient, and empathetic as well. She calls to check on you once you go home from the hospital you can tell she really cares about you as a patient. She always reads my chart before I see her and when I went home to *** she made sure too keep me In the hospital till I was ready mentally and physically then called to check on me. Her surgical skills are amazing and I know if I ever need another surgery she will know my history and perform it in a timely kind, professional manner. I would recommend her to anyone friend, family member, or any one who need a colorectal surgeon. Her nurses are awesome as well very knowledgeable and understanding. The office gets back with you quickly. Dr. Steinhagen is also wonderful they both do what may not be the easiest surgical approach but what is best for that particular patient. They both took a long time in the OR to prevent having to open me up which they knew would not be good for me. This would not be the case if I had it in *** they are the first 2 surgeons in a very long time to treat me as a person and not my disease. They also have never made me feel bad because I took longer to recover or had post op issues. They are amazing! As well they both communicated with my GI so everyone was on the same page and knew what was happening. So many times at other places that is not the case and I end up having to relay information not here they all know me and what is going on and work together to fix it. While always asking me my thoughts and respecting my wishes as the patient.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
