In-Depth, Year-Round Educational Opportunities for Students

The University Hospitals Heath Scholars Internship Program is a five-year, year-round program that provides learning and experience opportunities throughout the school year and over the summer. The program is designed to help minority students in the Cleveland area who desire to pursue a career in medicine.

Five-Week Summer Program

The intensive five-week summer program occurs in June and July each year. The program includes:

  • Shadowing: Scholars are assigned to one of nine medical disciplines, such as primary care and pediatrics, and will have the opportunity to spend time working on a project.
  • Mentorship: Scholars will be matched with mentors in their area of interest.
  • Experiential learning: Scholars will engage in hands-on experiences in their assigned work area.
  • Meaningful exposure: The program includes participation in events where students will attend social events and experience wonderful cultural resources and museums.
  • Support: Health Scholar interns receive a stipend, all materials needed for the program, vouchers for healthy meals, and transportation passes to attend all events.
