Nephroureterectomy with and without Lymph Node Dissection for Upper Tract Urothelial Cell Carcinoma
Randomized-Controlled Trial Examining Oncologic and Perioperative Outcomes for Nephroureterectomy with and without Lymph Node Dissection for Upper Tract Urothelial Cell Carcinoma
- Sex: Any
- Age: Adult (18 - 64), Older Adult (65+)
- Accepting Healthy People: No
- Type: Observational
- Trial Phase: NA
- Conditions Being Studied: Cancer - Urethral
Study Purpose
The purpose of this research study is to determine if removing the lymph nodes at time of nephroureterectomy provides better cancer control. The reason that lymph node dissection with nephroureterectomy might provide better cancer control is that the lymph nodes in the region of the tumor are often where the cancer spreads if it does spread outside of the kidney and/or ureter.
Who Can Participate
Men and women 18 or older that have been diagnosed with Upper Tract Urothelial Cell Carcinoma, and have a nephroureterectomy planned may be eligible for this study.
