Mac-1:GP1b alpha and Immune Activation: Novel Mechanisms of Cardiovascular Events in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (MACTIVATION-SLE)

  • Sex: Any

  • Accepting Healthy People: Yes
  • Type: Tissue Banking or Laboratory Collection

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of your immune system on blood platelets, which are cells that circulate in the bloodstream and help form blood clots. Blood clots are important if you are bleeding, but when platelets are incorrectly activated, strokes and heart attacks can occur. This study will use blood samples to determine whether platelets are activated at the same time as SLE disease activity.

Who Can Participate

Participants between 18 years and older who have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosis may be eligible for this study. Participants without an auto immune disorder are also needed for this study. These participants will have one visit which will include a blood test and survey related to their health.
