Study Purpose
The purpose of this study is to increase medical knowledge about the ability of white blood cells to migrate into the lungs of individuals who have been exposed to the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), the bacteria that causes tuberculosis.
Who Can Participate
Participants between 18-50 years of age and fit one of the following criteria may be eligible for this study: 1. Healthy and a non-smoker with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) as indicated by a positive tuberculosis skin test (PPD test or tuberculin test), or a positive tuberculosis blood test (Interferon-gamma (IFN-?) release assay (IGRA) test). 2. Healthy and a non-smoker and have not previously had a positive skin or blood test for tuberculosis. 3. Healthy and a non-smoker who has previously been vaccinated with the tuberculosis vaccine BCG but do not have evidence of latent tuberculosis infection.
