Lupron Only Trigger Patient Instructions
Lupron (leuprolide acetate)
Lupron Only Trigger – Subcutaneous Injection
Storage: Store at room temperature. This is a multi-use vial and is stable at room temperature until the expiration date listed on the vial.
Special Considerations: Once vial is punctured and used to trigger there will be extra medication left, discard any remaining medication after 30 days.
Supplies: BD insulin syringe microfine 28 gauge x ½"; 1ml to draw up and inject trigger, alcohol swabs.
Instructions
- Wash your hands and work on a clean, dry surface.
- Draw up straight Lupron from the vial for your dose.
- Your dose of Lupron will be 80 units as a one-time dose. Wait to hear from the fertility clinic before injecting Lupron trigger.
- It is important to take the injection(s) at the exact time you are instructed to.
Administration

- Choose an injection site on your abdomen (see image).
- Clean the area with an alcohol swab and allow to dry.
- Insert the needle straight into the skin – do not go in at an angle.
- Push the plunger all the way down, then wait 5 seconds before removing the needle from the skin.
