Lupron Only Trigger Patient Instructions

Lupron (leuprolide acetate)
Lupron Only Trigger – Subcutaneous Injection

Storage: Store at room temperature. This is a multi-use vial and is stable at room temperature until the expiration date listed on the vial.

Special Considerations: Once vial is punctured and used to trigger there will be extra medication left, discard any remaining medication after 30 days.

Supplies: BD insulin syringe microfine 28 gauge x ½"; 1ml to draw up and inject trigger, alcohol swabs.

Instructions

  1. Wash your hands and work on a clean, dry surface.
  2. Draw up straight Lupron from the vial for your dose.
    1. Your dose of Lupron will be 80 units as a one-time dose. Wait to hear from the fertility clinic before injecting Lupron trigger.
  3. It is important to take the injection(s) at the exact time you are instructed to.

Administration

  1. Choose an injection site on your abdomen (see image).
  2. Clean the area with an alcohol swab and allow to dry.
  3. Insert the needle straight into the skin – do not go in at an angle.
  4. Push the plunger all the way down, then wait 5 seconds before removing the needle from the skin.
